Santa Rosa County is considering installing traffic cameras to monitor speeding in school zones. A public hearing took place today for residents to provide feedback on the proposal. A 2024 study found that most traffic incidents occurred in Gulf Breeze and Milton. Santa Rosa School Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber has proposed placing cameras at all 35 schools in the district. No action was taken in council chambers today.

The Council on Aging of West Florida is accepting donations of new electric space heaters, blankets, and monetary contributions to assist older adults. Electric heaters and blankets may be delivered to Council on Aging of West Florida at 875 Royce Street. Financial donations can be made online at coawfla.org/donate or sent directly to Council on Aging of West Florida.

Weather conditions are a major concern this evening. A Freeze watch remains in effect through Tuesday with record low temperatures of 26° in North Escambia County and 28° in Pensacola. Additionally, a red flag fire warning has been issued for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties due to low humidity levels and winds gusting to 30 mph, creating critical fire weather conditions. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
