Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Florida's rolling out a new license plate to mark America's 250th birthday on July 4th, 2026. The America 250 plate is available starting this week. Officials say it's a great way for Floridians to show their pride in the nation's history right on their car. You can get one when you register or renew your vehicle at your local tax collector's office. It works just like a regular Florida plate, so all the standard fees apply. Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A Tate High School senior is a champion gamer. North-Escambia reports that Gage Coates won the Esports Fall 2025 Madden NFL Central Region Championship, defeating a player from Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Myers. Coates finished the regular season with a 7-and-1 record and earned the number-two seed in the playoffs. The national league hosted by PlayVS features 32 teams across the country. This is Coates' second regional championship -- he also won last season with a 9-and-1 record. Tate's esports program continues to grow with multiple teams qualifying for playoffs in Super Smash Bros. and Fortnite. The program was made possible through a Department of Defense Education Activity grant.

Okaloosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight shooting in Fort Walton Beach. Deputies responded to a home on Dates Avenue around early this morning after reports of gunfire. They found two people inside with gunshot wounds -- a man and a woman -- both hurt but expected to be okay. Investigators say someone fired multiple rounds through a bedroom window.
