Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Hundreds of volunteers gathered at the Pensacola Bay Center Sunday for the annual Bike Build, assembling bikes for kids in need this Christmas.

OnBikes Pensacola founder Walker Wilson says they built about 500 bikes this year for children in Escamba County, primarily those in foster care. The bikes will be distributed through Communities Caring at Christmas and other local organizations. What started nine years ago as a small effort among friends has now grown into a major community event. Over the years, OnBikes Pensacola has built more than 5,000 bikes total. Each child receives not just a bike, but also a helmet and lock to call their own. If you missed the bike build but still want to help, OnBikes Pensacola is hosting the Winter Wonder Ride fundraiser on December 6th. That event raises money for next year's bike build.

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola has received a remarkable gift from an anonymous donor. The Pensacola News Journal reports the church now has a 7-foot Steinway Model B grand piano, described by a former University of West Florida music instructor as one of the world's finest pianos. The same donor also funded the refurbishment of the church's thousand-pipe organ two years ago. Music director Tina Buran, who's beginning her 50th year at the church, says they already had one of the nicest organs in town, and now they certainly have one of the nicest pianos too. The church was founded in 1845 and has a long reputation for musical excellence in its worship services.

(Washington, DC) -- Rick Scott believes there's a way to lower the costs of healthcare. Senator Scott was on Fox News Sunday, and he proposed directing money to the consumer so they can buy the insurance plan they want. They could also use it for other health-related needs. He also proposes price transparency to empower patients to shop for the best deal, just like consumers in other businesses. Scott adds Obamacare is a disaster, and we have to fix it by driving the cost of healthcare down.
