Workforce Summit August 26th to Prepare Region for Shipbuilding Job Boom

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- The City of Pensacola is hosting a Workforce Summit on August 26th from 2:30 to 4 p.m. — bringing together more than 30 confirmed attendees including representatives from Pensacola State College, Northwest Florida State College, and Florida Commerce Secretary Kelly. Officials say the summit is timed to coincide with the CareerSource Florida board meeting also being held in Pensacola at UWF the following day — the first time in recent memory that meeting has been held in Northwest Florida rather than South or Central Florida. Officials say the goal is preparing the regional workforce pipeline for the wave of high-paying jobs expected from the Burdon shipbuilding project and related industries — with attendees also touring the American Magic building during their visit.
