Walnut Hill VFD Celebrates 57 Years With Annual Fish Fry, Honors Top Firefighters

The Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department marked its 57th annual fish fry Saturday, drawing hundreds of community members to the event. The gathering featured grilled and fried catfish, grilled chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, and homemade bread and desserts.
During the celebration, the department recognized outstanding service members. Shaun Cruz was named Firefighter of the Year, while Erick Koehn received the Officer of the Year award.
The fish fry is a longtime staple for the North Escambia volunteer fire service, combining community fundraising with a chance to honor the men and women who serve the area.
