The trial of contractor Matthew Banks, accused of stealing over $5 million from more than 150 clients, faces further delays. Banks, the former owner of Banks Construction, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including violations of Florida state building laws. If convicted, he could face up to 95 years in prison. His attorney, Joseph Reosti, has withdrawn from the case due to a conflict of interest stemming from a prior prosecution by the state attorney. Reosti noted he cannot suspend his practice for the trial’s expected duration of 4-6 weeks due to other commitments. With Banks' next court date set for August 3, the anticipated trial start on August 25 remains uncertain as the legal proceedings continue.
