Texas Man Charged with Animal Cruelty After Leaving Dog in Hot Car at Beach

Walton County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A Texas man is facing charges after allegedly leaving his dog in a hot car while he went to the beach in Walton County. Deputies say 26-year-old Andy Matute Villatoro has been charged with animal cruelty. County officials say several reports were received of a small dog in a hot car on Scenic Gulf Drive. The vehicle was not running and the windows were reportedly only slightly cracked. Deputies opened the vehicle with a lock out kit and the Yorkie was removed and given water. The temperature inside the vehicle was reportedly 120-degrees. The dog was wearing a collar with the owners number -- deputies called and Villatoro showed up later and was arrested.
