STATEWIDE BLACK BEAR HUNT COULD HAPPEN IN DECEMBER

We will soon know if the state will hold a Black Bear Hunt. Florida's first black bear hunt in ten years could potentially happen in December. The hunt would not include the Northwest Florida area. The closest permits would be issued in Bay County. Regulators are meeting this week in Ocala to finalize the plan. If the plan moves forward, permits to kill 187 black bears would be issued. Then, there would be an annual hunt every winter.
