Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Spirit Airlines has ceased all operations as of Saturday morning, stranding thousands of passengers across the country and putting 17-thousand employees out of work. The discount carrier canceled all upcoming flights and shut down customer service. In Pensacola, at least one traveler is stuck trying to retrieve her luggage from a locked Spirit office at Pensacola International Airport with no one available to help. Chicago resident Liz Schwarting tells WEAR that her boyfriend's guitar and clothing are locked inside and the claims portal is no longer active. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says several U.S. carriers will cap fares for stranded Spirit passengers. There is no official guidance yet on lost luggage claims.
