SEVERE WEATHER KICKS OFF THE WEEKEND

Saturday Morning's severe weather caused damage to homes and roadways across the area. Escambia County officials say several trees and power lines were down in the area of Calhoun Avenue in Escambia County. The county said first responders were called to the scene early Saturday. Crews worked throughout the morning to restore power and remove any debris from the road. County EMS was also called to the area and said there were no injuries. Some residents did report seeing a tornado in the area, but that has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service. On Pensacola Beach, they were picking up the pieces after the severe weather ripped through that area also early on Saturday morning, after a waterspout formed over the beach. One business reopened yesterday after shutting their doors Saturday, but not at full capacity. The doors at Red Fish Blue Fish were blown out. At Water Pig BBQ, their dining area was cut in half. Both restaurants reopened for Mother's Day despite the setback of the storm.
