(Tallahassee, FL) -- A Northeast Florida lawmaker is seeing progress in her attempt to help those wrongfully convicted. A state senate committee yesterday approved a bill sponsored by Fleming Island Republican Jennifer Bradley. SB 130 would make more people wrongfully convicted of a crime eligible for compensation from the state. Right now, those with prior felonies cannot qualify for compensation. Bradley says she knows of 18 people who would benefit if her bill becomes law. It has to clear one more committee before going to the full senate.
