Scammers Impersonating Law Enforcement

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A warning from PPD -- scammers are impersonating law enforcement and telling people they have warrants, missed jury duty or owe fines. Officers say they are demanding immediate payment or threatening jail time. PPD says to remember that police will never call demanding payment and will never ask for gift cards, wire transfers or cryptocurrency. If you receive a scam call, police say you should hang up immediately and call your local law enforcement agency. Officials are uging folks to talk to family and friends -- especially senior citizens about the scam.
