Santa Rosa County to Reformat Land Development Code for easier upkeep

Santa Rosa County is preparing to streamline its Land Development Code through an administrative reformatting that will make the document simpler to maintain and navigate—but won't change any actual development rules.

The proposed ordinance would repeal and replace the existing code solely to address formatting and organizational problems. Currently, the code relies on page numbers in its Table of Contents to help users find information, but those references become inaccurate whenever the code is amended and text shifts between pages. The new format will eliminate page number references and use section numbers as the primary navigation tool, with section numbers also added to document footers for consistent reference points even as the document grows or shrinks.

The Santa Rosa County Zoning Board will review the proposed ordinance at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 8, with the Board of County Commissioners scheduled to consider it at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 22. For details, contact Shawn Ward, Planning and Zoning Director, at ShawnW@santarosa.fl.gov or 850-981-7082.
