Santa Rosa County Schools Extended Closed Through Oct. 19 After Storm Damage

The Santa Rosa County School Board has extended school closures through October 19 due to storm damage and safety concerns, according to a report from Citizen Portal News Florida.

The decision comes after severe weather impacted the county, prompting the board to keep facilities shuttered beyond initial closure dates. Teachers and parents raised safety concerns that factored into the board's determination to maintain the closure.

No specific details on the extent of storm damage or which facilities were most heavily affected were immediately available. The closure affects all Santa Rosa County schools during the extended period.
