SailGP launches North American training base in Pensacola

High-speed sailing competition SailGP is officially opening its North American training base in Pensacola on Monday, according to a media advisory from the organization.

The facility, located at American Magic's High Performance Center at the Port of Pensacola, will serve as a year-round training hub for SailGP teams competing in the Rolex SailGP Championship. Teams pilot identical 50-foot foiling catamarans that race at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. Pensacola was selected for its world-class sailing facilities, consistent wind conditions, and central U.S. location. The agreement runs for six seasons, with teams beginning training in October 2026.

The official launch event is scheduled for Monday, October 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the American Magic High Performance Center (Warehouse 10) in the Port of Pensacola. SailGP executives, Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves, and athletes from the Emirates GBR SailGP Team — the 2025 Rolex SailGP Champions — will participate. Media are invited for behind-the-scenes tours and athlete interviews. Government-issued ID is required for facility access.
