Safford Now Faces Attempted Murder Charge In Downtown Shooting

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- The man arrested in the deadly downtown Pensacola shooting now faces an attempted first-degree murder charge. The State Attorney's Office confirms twenty-six-year-old Nicholas Safford was formally charged Friday, along with aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, and firing a weapon in public. He's being held without bond. Nineteen-year-old Phillip Sheppard Junior died in the shooting, and so far, no one's been charged with his murder. Twenty-five-year-old Lillian Meyers also faces charges in the case.
