The Pensacola Police Department is looking to spend about $150,000 in opioid settlement money to outfit their officers with a device that can detect drugs. It's called TrueNarc, a narcotics analyzer that can tell exactly what type of drug it is by using a laser. Pensacola Police Department officer Mike Wood says each device costs about $8,000. Pensacola Police Department would be the next local law enforcement agency to have the devices, following the Escambia and Santa Rosa sheriff's offices.
