Perdido Key Celebrates First Sea Turtle Hatch of the Year

Perdido Key celebrated its first sea turtle hatch of the season last week. County officials say 106 loggerhead hatchlings made their way to the water, despite challenges from artificial lighting. With 12 nests recorded this year, Perdido Key is on track for a near-record season, while Pensacola Beach has 13 nests. To help protect these hatchlings, beachgoers are encouraged to keep lights off, remove beach furniture, and fill in any holes they dig in the sand.
