Milton, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Pensacola State College in Milton broke ground Thursday on an eight-million dollar Diesel and Marine Mechanics Training Center aimed at filling one of the Gulf Coast's most in-demand workforce gaps. The thirteen-thousand square foot facility will feature in-ground service pits and is expected to be complete by mid-to-late twenty-twenty-seven. PSC President Ed Meadows says diesel mechanics with overtime can earn six-figure salaries, and the program is open to dual enrollment students — meaning some could enter the workforce straight out of high school. An inaugural class of fifteen students has already begun the diesel program while the new building is under construction.
