Pensacola Energy Settlement Checks Sent Out

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Many Pensacola Energy customers are receiving checks as part of a $16 million settlement from a class action lawsuit. The lawsui affects nearly 35,000 natural gas customers within city limits. It stems from the illegal collection of a franchise fee by Pensacola Energy for over 50 years. A judge recently ruled that the city must repay customers for improper charges dating back to August 2011. Current customers have already received their payouts, while former customers must check their forwarding addresses for postcards containing their class member ID numbers. The postcards were mailed earlier this week, and former customers have until October 2026 to file claims.
