PBS Era Ends at Pensacola State's WSRE TV Starting Today

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Today marks the end of decades of PBS programming on Pensacola State College's W-S-R-E television station. The college lost one-point-five million dollars in federal and state funding after President Trump signed an executive order defunding public broadcasting last year. W-S-R-E is replacing PBS with programming from the Florida Channel, American Public Television, and PSC-produced content — including Fourth of July specials celebrating America's two-hundred-fiftieth anniversary. A legal dispute between the W-S-R-E Foundation and the college over five-point-six million dollars in foundation funds remains ongoing. PBS programming will still be available on streaming platforms.
