Pensacola Beach, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The owners of The Local market and cafe on Pensacola Beach are asking permission from the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) to install a sailfish from an old Pensacola Beach welcome sign outside their store on Via De Luna Drive. Dustin and Mandy Vaughn are hoping the iconic piece of local history will attract visitors for photos and celebrate the spirit of Pensacola Beach. The Vaughns plan to include dimmable lighting to minimize disruption to nearby residents and wildlife. The sailfish was originally designed by Pat Born in the early 1960s. The SRIA Board will discuss their request during a meeting on August 13.
