OSPREY RESCUED FROM TANGLED LINES ON SAILBOAT

A good Samaritan noticed that a large bird was fighting for its life yesterday morning at a marina near Gulf Breeze. That passerby sent in video and reported his concerns, and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers Wilkenson and Burkhead responded. The bird was identified as an osprey, that apparently had a hook lodged in its back. That caused the bird to become entangled in the sailboat's lines at the top of the mast. An FWC Officer, assisted by Zern Rigging, was hauled up the mast in a boatsun's chair, untangled the bird and took it to the Sandspur Wildlife Rescue in Navarre to get the care it needs.
