Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92-3): The Escambia Board of Commissioners will consider approving the purchase of five new fire trucks and an ambulance today. It's on the agenda for their meeting this evening. Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore says they want to purchase a ladder truck and four fire engines.
Gilmore says the fire trucks would be funded by the American Rescue Plan from the federal government. They're also considering purchasing an ambulance, which Gilmore says would bolster the fleet and allow them to add more people to bring down EMS response times.
