Militon, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Downtown Milton has flooded before — and city leaders want to make sure it doesn't happen again. The proposed state budget includes nearly ninety-thousand dollars for portable flood barriers along the Blackwater River, where parts of the city went underwater back in twenty-twenty. The barriers can hold back up to forty inches of water. Senator Don Gaetz is also pushing for one-point-five million dollars to move the city's wastewater treatment plant out of a flood zone. The legislature votes on the budget Friday.
