Santa Rosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A decorated Marine is getting a new lease on life. Marine Gunnery Sergeant David Post, who lost his left foot to an IED blast in Afghanistan in 2011, was recognized on Saturday by Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit that provides mortgage-free adapted homes to severely wounded veterans. His new home in Navarre will feature over 40 special adaptations for full wheelchair access, including wider doorways, automatic openers, and roll-under counters. The home should be ready by spring 2026. According to the Pensacola News Journal, Post says the new home will give him the freedom to live unrestricted and do more of what he enjoys — cooking for friends and family.
