Tallahassee, FL (News Service of Florida) -- Supporters of a recreational marijuana ballot measure are urging the Florida Supreme Court to let voters decide the issue. Smart and Safe Florida filed an 84-page brief Friday saying the proposal meets legal requirements. Attorney General James Uthmeier and business groups argue the ballot language is misleading about where smoking would be banned and that the measure conflicts with federal law. Smart and Safe Florida says those arguments were already rejected when a similar measure made the ballot in 20-24. The court will hear oral arguments February 5th. The group also needs more than 880-thousand valid signatures by February 1st.
