An Oregon man has been sentenced to one year in state prison followed by ten years of probation for attempting to smuggle 46 pounds of marijuana into Pensacola. Thirty-year-old Tony Do received his sentence last Wednesday after pleading no contest to charges of marijuana trafficking and smuggling. Do was apprehended on September 10, 2024, at Pensacola International Airport after arriving from Portland. Authorities received a tip regarding his suspicious travel. Upon questioning, he claimed he was visiting a friend in the area and had no return flight. A search of his luggage revealed clothes masked with strong odors of laundry detergent and dryer sheets, under which agents found 40 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana. This case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.
