MAN BEATS ROOMATE OVER SMOKING IN HOUSE

A 61-year-old Pensacola man is charged with attempted homicide for beating his roommate during an argument about someone smoking in the house. According to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Willie James Richardson was arrested last (Tuesday) night, and is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond. The incident happened Sunday at a home on Rawls Avenue when Richardson and his roommate allegedly got into a physical altercation over someone smoking in the house, and beat his roommate with a pole. Richardson called in the incident to deputies, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies arrived to find the victim with lacerations to his face. The victim was then transported to the hospital. After investigation, the sheriff's office determined the victim's injuries were severe enough to charge Richardson with attempted homicide. No further details were released at this time.
