Major resurfacing project begins on Highway 4 corridor between Davisville and Century

A $5.3 million road improvement project is now underway on West Highway 4, with crews beginning work Monday on the full 13-mile stretch from Highway 97 in Davisville to North Century Boulevard in Century, according to Escambia County.
The resurfacing effort represents a significant investment in the North Escambia corridor, which serves both local residents and through traffic between the two communities. Work has already started just east of Highway 97, and county officials expect the project to wrap up by spring 2027, weather permitting.
Drivers in the area should expect construction activity and possible traffic adjustments as the work progresses over the coming months. Escambia County said construction coordination could also affect the timeline, so commuters are advised to plan accordingly.
