Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A local aspiring rap star is now facing both federal and state charges. Pensacola native Jovon Booker, who went by the rap name 'Playa Pat' is facing federal and state charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and money laundering. According to an article in the PNJ, officials say Booker shot a 36-year-old man at the Paparazzi nightclub in May of last year. The case reportedly involves substantial amounts of money, with evidence suggesting he was also involved in drug trafficking and financial crimes. He faces significant penalties under Florida's "10-20-Life" statute, which could result in a life sentence. His next court date is set for September 24. Booker was reportedly on the rise in the rap scene -- having collaborated with notable artists like G Herbo and Metro Boomin. Booker's indictment comes before he was able to publish his debut album.
