INFANT FLOWN TO HOSPITAL AFTER BITTEN BY FAMILY DOG

An infant was flown to the hospital earlier today after being bitten by the family dog, according to Escambia County officials. It happened around 9:45 am in the 6200 block of West Nine Mile Road. Escambia County EMS responded and provided care on scene until Lifeflight arrived and transported the infant to a local hospital. Escambia County Animal Welfare Officers also responded, following their standard procedure for dog bite incidents, which includes taking possession of the dog for rabies observation before determining next steps. Escambia County Fire Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
