Ice Flyers Fall to Macon in Season Opener Despite Second-Period Rally

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' season got off to a rough start Saturday night, dropping their Opening Night matchup 4-2 to the Macon Mayhem in front of 5,994 fans at The Hangar.

The Ice Flyers came out strong defensively in the first period, outshooting Macon 13-7, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Mayhem's Mason Hoehn broke through early in the second period to give Macon the lead, and despite a Pensacola push later in the frame, the visitors held on for the win.

The loss marks an inauspicious start to the season for the local professional hockey team, which will look to bounce back in upcoming matchups.
