Hurricane Isaias Damage Tops $247 Million in Santa Rosa County
Santa Rosa County's estimated damage from Hurricane Isaias has now surpassed $247 million as the county moves deeper into long-term recovery.
The latest assessment is based on more than 3,800 damage reports submitted through the Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser's Office.
County officials say more than 100 structures have been classified as destroyed, while more than 400 suffered major damage. More than 1,000 sustained minor damage and more than 5,000 others were affected.
Altogether, more than 7,000 structures across Santa Rosa County have been impacted by the storm.
The damage estimate could continue to rise as additional reports are received.
Residents who have not yet reported hurricane damage are being encouraged to do so through the Property Appraiser's website. Property owners can search for their parcel and use the "Report Damage" option.
Cleanup is also continuing across the county.
As of Sunday, crews had collected more than 100,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris and more than 300 cubic yards of construction and demolition debris.
That's only a fraction of what's believed to be waiting for collection.
Santa Rosa County estimates Hurricane Isaias generated approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of debris. The county estimates debris removal alone could cost roughly $23 million.
Multiple collection passes are planned through affected neighborhoods.
Residents are being asked to keep vegetative debris separate from construction materials and place debris along the public right-of-way without blocking roads, drainage systems or fire hydrants.
