(Tallahassee, FL) -- A North Florida lawmaker now has a formal reprimand on her record. The House Rules and Ethics Committee voted yesterday to reprimand Jacksonville Democratic State Representative Angie Nixon. It comes after an incident two weeks ago during a hearing about redistricting. Nixon was not allowed to speak because she was not on the committee, so she used a megaphone to get her point across. Sam Garrison chairs the Rules and Ethics Committee, and he says he hates reprimanding his colleagues, but it's his responsibility to protect the institution. Nixon says she wouldn't be doing her job if she sat silently while Governor DeSantis and Florida Republicans stripped away their voice and their ability to elect candidates they believe in.
