Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) --There's a new resource for veterans in our area who need mental health treatment for PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, or other issues. The Homebase program is expanding into Pensacola and teaming with the Lakeview Center.
"Homebase is based in Massachusetts, and its mission is to serve military veterans and their families," says Lakeview Center President Shawn Salimida. It's a very holistic approach; they focus on employment, physical care, and mental health."
Salimida says the Lakeview Center will provide mental health services for veterans or their family members who are participating in the program.
"There is a high incidence of veterans with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression...at a very high rate because of the things they are exposed to and the things that they endure in service," Salimida tells Pensacola's Morning News. "Homebase's mission...and we're glad to be a part of that, is to provide support to those individuals in the form of mental health services."
