A camper at Fort Pickens recently came across something of historical significance -- a Spanish olive jar that was more than five hundred years old. Ryan Smith says he turned the item over to a park ranger as soon as he found it. But to his surprise, they reburied it where it was found. National Seashore Archeologist Michael Lockman says there are many reasons to return the item to the earth -- it could be a duplicate of one they've already found and placed in their collection, and having fewer items in the collection requires more resources to maintain.
