HAM RADIO OPERATORS PARTICIPATE IN FIELD DAY

This coming weekend, County Emergency Management Amateur Radio Emergency Services’ ham radio operators will be attending a national amateur radio exercise on Navarre Beach. The Radio Field Day is set to start Saturday, and go until Sunday at 11:00 am. According to a Santa Rosa County press release, ham operators from across the nation participate in the Field Day by creating temporary radio stations in public locations to show off their skills and services. These radio signals aim to bring people together from across cities and the country while also giving essential communication between communities. Ham radios function completely independent of the internet and phone systems, and a station can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. Hams can quickly raise a wire antenna in a tree or on a mast, connect it to a radio and power source, and communicate effectively with others.
