A nearly $22 million state road project is underway in downtown Pensacola. Hundreds of construction cones now line Garden Street. And like many road projects, it's affecting the traffic into businesses along the route. Several businesses there are trying to stay positive during this disruption. All of the businesses are looking forward to the final product. That will include upgraded sidewalks and on-street parking to bring in customers. Upgrades are focusing on stormwater drainage, utilities and accessibility. Mayor D.C. Reeves said street parking, additional crosswalks and renovated side walks are also in the plan. Business owners want to remind customers the road isn't totally closed and neither are they.
