Garcon Point Bridge Transitioning to Cashless Tolling Next Week

Santa Rosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- The Garcon Point Bridge in Santa Rosa County is set to transition to fully electronic tolling next week. As of Monday the 29th cash payments will no longer be accepted. The move is aimed at improving safety and reducing congestion along State Road 281. Toll rates won't be changing -- but drivers can save 25-percent by using Florida's SunPass. The Garcon Point Bridge has faced some financial challenges since its 1999 opening -- including a loan default and subsequent legal battles over toll increases until the state took the bridge over in 2023.
