GAINESVILLE WOMAN DIES IN CRASH ON GULF BEACH HIGHWAY

Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) A 23-year-old Gainesville woman died after a crash in Escambia County yesterday. The crash occurred around 1:55 am when she was traveling eastbound on Gulf Beach Highway. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman drove onto the south shoulder, striking several signs and a utility pole, flipping her car on its side, then catching fire. Escambia County Fire Rescue arrived shortly after and immediately began working to extinguish the fire before rescuing the woman. Once she was removed, she was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. In an update this afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said the woman died at the hospital from her injuries.
