Escambia County, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- A former Escambia County waste services employee is suing the county for allegedly forcing him to resign after reporting his boss for gross mismanagement. According to the Pensacola News Journal, Nicolas Howard claims he raised concerns that the previous Waste Services Director misrepresented the Perdido Landfill's capacity — projecting it would run out of space by August of this year — and that groundwater monitoring wells around the old Klondike Landfill had been destroyed during a nearby development. Howard says he was told to resign or be fired three months after reporting his concerns. The county denies his account. The County Commission votes Tuesday to schedule a closed-door meeting with attorneys on July twenty-third to discuss the case.
