Former Century Mayor Luis Gomez Jr. Dies At 62

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Former Century Mayor Luis Gomez Junior has died at 62. Gomez stepped into the role as interim mayor in 2023 after Ben Boutwell's resignation, later winning election unopposed twice before resigning himself in early 2025 for medical reasons. During his time in office, Gomez helped save the town nearly two-hundred-thousand dollars through insurance changes and outsourced management of the wastewater treatment plant. He was first elected to the town council back in 2017. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
