Florida's Minimum Wage Increases Today

(Miami, FL) -- Some workers are getting a pay bump today as part of a voter-approved amendment to raise Florida's minimum wage to 15 dollars by 2026.

Economist Dr. Ken Johnson says on the plus side this should increase productivity among lower-paid workers, but on the downside, it could spike prices and local inflation. Under the amendment, the minimum wage went to ten dollars-an-hour in 2021, eleven bucks in 2022, 12 dollars in 2023, 13 in 2024 and 14 today.

The federal minimum wage remains $7.25 per hour.
