Florida Democrats to Outline Affordability Platform as Vote-by-Mail Ballots Arrive

Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried will host a virtual press call Thursday morning with state legislative candidates to discuss the party's affordability agenda as vote-by-mail ballots begin reaching voters statewide.

The briefing, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Zoom, will feature Senator Brian Nathan (Senate District 14), Representative Emily Gregory (House District 87), and three legislative candidates: Richard Lamondin (Senate District 38), Nik Dean (House District 38), and Lucia Baez-Geller (House District 106). Democrats say the forum will focus on lowering costs and raising wages while highlighting recent seat flips they attribute to voter focus on affordability issues.

The call comes as Florida heads into the final stretch of its 2026 campaign cycle. Democrats have emphasized that their candidates are concentrating messaging on pocketbook issues—housing costs, wages, and support for seniors—rather than what party officials describe as Republican efforts to distract from economic challenges. The party is attempting to break Republican supermajorities in the state legislature.

Journalists interested in attending the Zoom call must RSVP through the Florida Democratic Party's registration link.
