Florida AG sues Discord over child safety protections

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against Discord, the popular messaging and gaming platform used by roughly 90 million people daily, alleging the company fails to adequately protect minors from sexual predators.

According to reporting on the case, Uthmeier's office contends that Discord's safety measures are insufficient to guard children from exploitation on the platform. The lawsuit represents an escalating effort by state attorneys general nationwide to hold social media and gaming companies accountable for child protection policies.

Discord, which serves as a hub for gaming communities and group messaging, has faced scrutiny from regulators and child safety advocates over how it moderates content and manages user interactions, particularly involving younger users.
