GAETZ MAKES SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS -- David Wayne
Navarre, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Students from several of our area high schools have been nominated to attend U.S. service academies by Northwest Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz. The nominations were announced last night at Navarre High School. Gaetz said receiving a nomination means they students are the "very best" that Northwest Florida has to offer, although he says it doesn't automatically mean they'll be attending the academy. The nomination is the first step in the selection process -- and they'll still have to be selected by the prestigious schools. Gaetz says even if students don't get into the academy, they can still turn the nomination into another leadership opportunity, or possibly admission or a scholarship to another school.
