FDOT warns of major I-10, I-110 closures next week in Escambia County

Drivers throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties should prepare for significant traffic disruptions over the next week as the Florida Department of Transportation stages multiple construction and resurfacing projects on major corridors.

The most impactful work will hit Interstate 10 and Interstate 110, where crews will close lanes nightly from Sunday, September 27 through Thursday, October 1, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. On I-10, expect intermittent closures between mile markers 5 and 14—spanning from the Perdido River Bridge east past Davis Highway. I-110 will see similar disruptions from I-10 to U.S. 98 as crews complete paving and striping. FDOT says law enforcement and traffic flaggers will be stationed in work zones to keep traffic moving safely.

Beyond the interstates, State Road 295 (Navy Boulevard) will experience outside lane closures between Barrancas and West Fairfield Drive during the same nightly window for concrete work. U.S. 90 (Scenic Highway) and U.S. 90A (West Nine Mile Road) are also slated for resurfacing, with U.S. 90A seeing daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. State Road 292 (Gulf Beach Highway) near Patton Drive and Mills Avenue continues to operate at a reduced 35 mph speed limit with median devices in place.

Longer-term, drivers should note that Garden Street between Pace Boulevard and North Donelson Street remains reduced to two lanes (one per direction) through late 2026 as stormwater drainage work continues, and on-street parking is closed between A Street and L Street. FDOT recommends allowing extra travel time and staying alert for flaggers and reduced speed zones throughout the coming week.
