Escambia Deputies Shoot Armed Suspect Following Shots Fired at Responding Officers

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- FDLE is investigating an officer involved shooting in Escambia County over the weekend. It happened on Amberway Drive about 10:30 on Saturday night. Escambia deputies say they responded to a home where a man was shooting in his front yard. That man reportedly shot at deputies with an AR-15 when they arrived -- but missed. Deputies say they ordered the man to drop the rifle but he refused and deputies shot him. The suspect was taken to the hospital, we don't have an update on his condition. Deputies say the rifle and a pistol were recovered at the scene.
