Escambia County Woman Charged After Combative Traffic Stop

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A Cantonment woman is facing charges after allegedly fighting with FHP troopers during a traffic stop. It happened Saturday, when troopers say they saw 34-year-old Sarvonta Alston driving recklessly on Highway 29. They say she fled from a traffic stop and they caught up with her when she parked in a spot on Carrington Lakes Boulevard. That's where Alston was placed under arrest and handcuffed -- but she was reportedly able to move her cuffs to the front of her body and became combative with troopers, who ultimately tazed the woman. Alston now faces several charges including felony battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, resisting, and DUI. She's being held without bond at the Escambia County jail.
