Escambia County to Vote on Ordinance Changes to Recognize 'Gulf of America' Name

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Escambia County is moving to change the wording in at least 23 ordinances from "Gulf of Mexico" to "Gulf of America." The Board of County Commissioners will vote on authorizing a public hearing to discuss these changes on Thursday. The change follows an executive order from the Governor, who recently signed legislation to officially recognize "Gulf of America" name. The Board of Commissioners will take up the change at Thursday's meeting. The county recently spent about 26-hundred dollars changing the name on the iconic Sailfish sign in Gulf Breeze.
